BHS-Tomahawk Award
March 2000-
This month's award goes to PAM (DENTON) BROWN'59.  Pam is very active in BHS alumni activities. She turns out the "Birmingham Mailing List" and is the driving force behind the "Reunion" effort.  In spite of moving recently, Pam finds the time to email this site with updates and the "Trivia" section finds her in 3rd place....Grand Master.  Thank You Pam !
May 2000-
Long overdue for this award. The kind of person that should make us all proud that he is a truely unique "Birmingham Brave". Yes, it's Vic Chaney'58. Every alumni group needs at least one person  that everyone feels comfortable with, and for BHS the "Vicster" belongs in that group .  Vic has recently found the urge to return to the track, so he is in training for Senior Competition .  We are with you Vic!  We should all vision Vic wearing that blue/yellow striped BHS jersey as he represents our spirit in competition. Also, for those who know the Vicster; they will tell you how "giving" Vic is. Need a shirt ? Call Vic.  And, what a help Vic has been in bringing all of us together.  Have an urge to extend a open hand in friendship?... email the "Vicster".

June 2000-
June, the month of graduation. A month that has special memories. A month that forces us, like no other month, to focus in on  Birmingham's past; the perfect month to recognise a fallen "CHIEF".  Guy Jue '57 started his High School life as a "Brave" and was quickly elevated to a true leader.  A leader who could help bring out the best in this unique and experimental Birmingham High School. And, lead he did; Guy was free of enemies and was looked up to by all, including staff. He was truly one of the chosen few,  worthy of everyones' appreciation and graditude.  Guy, we have gone forty-three years without your leadership and now that we have learned of your passing,  we somehow feel your absence........... GOODBYE  "CHIEF" GUY JUE.
July 2000-
July, the month that brings out the sunshine. So, who better to deserve this award than Glenda Calder(Williams)....the sunlight behind "Our Story"; the new link on our website that added a little life. Glenda put in mucho hours on "OurStory" and she is a pleasure to work with, always coming up with ideas. And,  this gal can remember the events of the '50's like yesterday!  Everyone owes a big "THANK YOU" to Glenda....she even fought the "new toy" (purchase of scanner) frustrations  in putting together "Our Story".  What's next Glenda?
Sept. 2000-
When this alumni was discovered  several months ago, it was not only a surprise, but more importantly "a real find".  Since coming on board the BHS Site he has been a frequent visitor to the Chatroom, a leader in Trivia, and has had nothing but POSITIVE comments.  For those of you who did not know this alumni back in High School days, you truely missed out!  "The Hook" is this months deserving winner; yes, Daryl Hook ..... one of the real true "guys" that gave Birmingham  such a unique start.  Daryl.......WE ALL THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES!

December, 2000-
The easiest alumni couple to find; just look for a Cal Trans Orange, late thirties two-door CHEVY, fully hot-rodded, and  pulling a collectors AIRSTREAM trailer.  Where you ask ?....
Traveling any major highway is where you will find Jim Foster ('58) and Lynn (Barrett'59) Foster .....usually in the fast lane!  Jim and Lynn enjoy car shows, visiting friends, and "CRUISIN".  Isn't this the life we all had pictured back in the fifties/sixties... a future that would involve living in the present and yet surrounded by the past ? WHOW....Jim and Lynn, we are envious.
July, 2001-
If you did not know Diane Riggins(McCrary'59) back when, or if you have not chatted with her since the formation of our website.....YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!  Diane is a joy to chat/email with. When she first started chatting in the BHS Chatroom she stood alone many times as the only gal, and to this day she mixes in with any discussion. Diane is 100% behind the BHS Website effort; currently working on the REUNION committee.  Diane and her husband, Tom, live in the Sierra's. Both enjoy golf. Diane has had a few recent mini-reunions; one when Daryl Hook'57 stopped by for a visit and another visit with George Snow'57 and Pam Denton (Brown)'59 in Las Vegas (with, of course, a little golf thrown in!).  DIANE....GLAD YOU FOUND US!!
August, 2004-
A great Trivia player and better than that an all-around great guy?  Yes, Monty Rich fits the bill.  For those of you who attended the Reunion, you know what a great guy Monty (alias Elvis) is.  Always smiling, and always willing to converse.  He always finds time to check into the BHS site and stay active,  whether it is via Trivia or email....count on Monty to keep in touch.  Make a friend here and you will have a genuine catch.
